Picking Up Rocks

the first graders setting out
How do you keep the first-third graders busy after the morning assembly before school officially starts while you have a meeting with the fourth-sixth graders about scout camp?
EASY, you assign each grade an area, then tell the first graders to each pick up 100 rocks, the second graders 200 rocks each, and the third graders 50 rocks each. Here are some pics I snapped of the kids picking up rocks, some were more dedicated to the task than others as you can see.

counting her rocks

these girls were more dedicated to talking than picking up rocks
